Context: Tourism Minister, Satpal Maharaj launched Uttarakhand’s first OTT platform app “Ambe Cine” dedicated to the folk languages Garhwali and Kumaoni for the preservation of culture.
Key Points
· The launch of Uttarakhand’s first OTT platform is a progressive step in this direction. In Uttarakhand also, the government is mulling over a policy for introducing OTT platform soon. Suggestions are being invited from people for this.
· As per the tourism minister there is no provision for subsidy for films or web series currently being made for the OTT platform.
· Many films are currently released on the OTT platform only because they are not released in cinema halls.

· OTT platform is a big platform for the protection of folk culture, so the state government is formulating a policy for it.
Context: Savita Kanswal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest and Mount Makalu in just 16 days, was killed in an avalanche in Uttarkashi on Tuesday.
Key Points
· The 26-year-old mountaineer was among nine others who died when an avalanche struck Draupadi's Danda-II mountain peak in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi.
· She was a part of the 41-member team of mountaineers who was returning after climbing the peak when they were hit by the avalanche.
· In 2013, Kanswal had done her basic, advance, search and rescue and mountaineering instructor’s courses from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.
· Kanswal has created a national record by climbing Mount Everest and Mount Makalu in just 16 days. She hoisted the tricolour on the world's highest peak in May this year. On May 28, she climbed Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth highest peak.
· The ace mountaineer had been serving as an instructor for the institute's advanced mountaineering course in Draupadi's Danda Peak when the avalanche took her life near the Dokrani Bamak glacier.
· In the year 2021, Savita Kanswal successfully climbed the world's fourth highest peak Mount Lhotse (8516 m) under the Everest Massif expedition.
· Savita is the second woman mountaineer from India to hoist the tricolor on Mount Lhotse.

Context: Famous Hindi story writer Shekhar Joshi passed away at the age of 90 in Ghaziabad.
Key Points 
· Shekhar Joshi is especially known for his progressive stories like Kosi Ka Ghatwar, Daajyu and Badhank.
· Shekhar Joshi was a well-known storyteller who considered story writing as a responsible act.
· Shekhar Joshi’s stories have been translated into English, Czech, Polish, Russian and Japanese languages. A film was also produced by the Children’s Film Society on his story ‘Daju’.
Uttarakhand government started Lakhpati Didi scheme
Context: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched Mukhyamantri Lakhpati Didi Yojana on November 4.
Key Points
· The scheme has been announced to be launched for the welfare of the women of the state.
· Through this, women associated with self-help groups will be made millionaires by the government.
· Under the scheme, the target is to make 1.25 lakh women millionaires by the year 2025.
Objective Lakhpati Didi Scheme
· The Chief Minister felicitated women earning more than one lakh rupees in a year through self-help groups as 'Lakhpati Didi' and presented their cheques.
· The Government of Uttarakhand has run several schemes to make women and girls self-reliant and under the new scheme Lakhpati Didi Yojana, facilities for loans, technical guidance, training, marketing of products will be made available to women.
· This scheme has been started with the objective that women can lead their lives in the society by being self-reliant and can feed their families.
Context: The first conference on Akash Tatva - Akash for Life, held from November 5th to 7th in Dehradun.
Key Points

Context: The government appointed retired IPS officer Ganesh Singh Martolia as the new Chairman of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC).
Key Points
· He replaces retired IAS officer S Raju, who had resigned on moral grounds after it came to the fore that several recruitments conducted by the UKSSSC had been rigged.
· At the same time, Secretary of UKSSSC, Santosh Badoni had first been transferred back to his parent department the Secretariat and then suspended.
· The order appointing Martolia as the new Chairman of UKSSSC was issued under the signature of Secretary, Personnel and Vigilance, Shailesh Bagoli.
· The appointment will become effective from the date Martolia joins. The government order does not mention any period for which Martolia has been appointed.
· However, post retirement reappointments are generally made for three to five years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
