Kedarnath temple to get a ‘golden’ makeover
A Mumbai based businessman will fund the facelift of Kedarnath temple’s sanctum sanctorum which will now be gold-plated.  Currently the sanctum sanctorum of one of the famous Char Dham temple is covered with 230 kilograms of silver.
About kedarnath temple
- Kedarnath Temple it is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva.
- The temple is located on the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river, in the state of Uttarakhand, India.
- Due to extreme weather conditions, the temple is open to the general public only between the months of April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima, the autumn full moon).
- During the winters, the vigraha (deity) of the temple is carried down to Ukhimath to be worshipped for the next six months.
- Kedarnath is seen as a homogenous form of Shiva, the ‘Lord of Kedarkhand’, the historical name of the region

Shortage of teachers in Eklavya model school
- Only 4000 teachers have been appointed out of the 11340 teachers needed for 378 eklavya schools.
About Eklavya Model Residential Schools
- The Central Government has approved the proposal of setting up of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) under Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
- As per the budget 2018-19, every block with more than 50% Schedule Tribe (ST) population and at least 20,000 tribal persons, will have an Eklavya Model Residential School by the year 2022.
- These are being set up by grants provided under Article 275(1)of the Constitution.
- There will be an autonomous societyunder the ministry of tribal affairs — similar to Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti — to run the EMRSs.
- The objective of EMRS is to provide quality middle and high level education to Scheduled Tribe (ST)students in remote areas, not only to enable them to avail of reservation in high and professional educational courses and as jobs in government and public and private sectors but also to have access to the best opportunities in education at par with the non ST population.
Mysuru zoo rated second best in CZA evaluation
- The century-old Mysuru zoo has been rated ‘very good’ by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA), which conducted the Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Zoos in India 2022.

8 African Cheetah released at Kuno National Park

About Kuno National Park
- Kuno National Park is a national park in Madhya Pradesh, India, established in 1981 as a wildlife sanctuary with an initial area of 344.686 km2 (133.084 sq mi) in the Sheopur and Morena districts.
- In 2018, it was given the status of a national park. It is part of the Khathiar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion
- KunoPalpur Wildlife Sanctuary is underway to become India’s second home for the Asiatic lion.
- It is to prevent decline, and possible extinction, in a single habitat due to natural disasters, epidemics, decline in prey or retaliatory killings.
- Kuno’s habitats have been fine-tuned for these new entrants with abundant populations of herbivores like nilgai, chital, sambhar and chinkara, who are the lions’ natural prey.
- Geographically, Kuno also features the same kind of semi-arid vegetation in Gir, as it is under the same biogeographic zone. This should make the transition more seamless for the lions.
- The introduction of lions at Kuno is happening 29 years after it was first proposed.
