PM Modi launches 5G

  • Mobile phone users in the country will soon be able to experience ultra highspeed Internet using 5G wireless technology
  • 5G technology will provide seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. It will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency.
  • At first, 13 countries will get the 5G services and these are – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar.

About 5G Technology:

  • 5G is the 5thgeneration mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.
  • It enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.
  • Internet speeds in the high-band spectrum of 5G has been tested to be as high as 20 Gbps (gigabits per second),while, in most cases, the maximum internet data speed in 4G has been recorded at 1 Gbps.

Evolution from First Generation to Fifth Generation

  • 1G was launched in the 1980s and worked on analog radio signals and supported only voice calls.
  • 2G was launched in the 1990s which uses digital radio signals and supports both voice and data transmission with a bandwidth of 64 Kbps.
  • 3G was launched in the 2000s with a speed of 1 Mbps to 2 Mbps and it has the ability to transmit telephone signals including digitalised voice, video calls and conferencing.
  • 4G was launched in 2009 with a peak speed of 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps and it also enables 3D virtual reality.

 

Indore bags cleanest city award for sixth year

  • President Droupadi Murmu presents awards as part of Azadi@75 Swachh Survekshan 2022
  • Indore has been adjudged the cleanest city of India for the sixth year in a row, while Madhya Pradesh is the cleanest State in the country.
  • Surat is the second cleanest city and Navi Mumbai ranks a close third in the category of cities with a population more than a lakh.
  • In the population category of less than one lakh, Panchgani bagged rank first, Patan from Chhattisgarh bagged the second position, Karad from Maharashtra bagged third rank
  • Tirupati received the best city award in Safai Mitra Suraksha category, while Haridwar in Uttarakhand received the award for the best Ganga town in more than one lakh population cities. Shivamogga in Karnataka received the fast mover city award.
  • Madhya Pradesh emerge as the Cleanest State in the category of “more than 100 Urban Local Bodies”,
  • Tripura got the cleanest state award in the “less than 100 urban local bodies category”

 

ICCR signed an MoU with Google for easy search of Sanskrit language

  • ICCR signed an MoU with Google to ease searching the Internet in Sanskrit and provided the search engine giant one lakh commonly used sentences in the language with their English and Hindi translations.
  • MoU was signed here in presence of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and senior officials of Google.

 About Sanskrit language

  • Sanskrit is a classical language of South Asia that belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European languages
  • It arose in South Asia after its predecessor languages had diffused there from the northwest in the late Bronze Age
  • Sanskrit is the sacred language of Hinduism, the language of classical Hindu philosophy, and of historical texts of Buddhism and Jainism.
  • It was a link language in ancient and medieval South Asia, and upon transmission of Hindu and Buddhist culture to Southeast Asia, East Asia and Central Asia in the early medieval era, it became a language of religion and high culture, and of the political elites in some of these regions
  • ] As a result, Sanskrit had a lasting impact on the languages of South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia, especially in their formal and learned vocabularies

 

GODI India Private Limited has manufactured India’s 1st 3000F high power supercapacitors for Evs

  • HYDERABAD’s GODI India, the first Indian company to get BIS certification to sell lithium-ion cells made using homegrown technology, on Wednesday said it has manufactured India’s first ever 3000F high power supercapacitors at its Hyderabad facility.

Electric Vehicle (EV) – Meaning

  1. An electric vehicle (EV) is one that operates on an electric motor, instead of an internal-combustion engine that generates power by burning a mix of fuel and gases.
  2. Electric Vehicles (EV’s) include, road and rail vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, electric aircraft and electric spacecraft.
  3. Though the concept of electric vehicles has been around for a long time, it has drawn a considerable amount of interest in the past decade amid a rising carbon footprint and other environmental impacts of fuel-based vehicles.
  4. An electric vehicle may be powered through a collector system by electricity from off-vehicle sources, or may be self-contained with a battery, solar panels, fuel cells or an electric generator to convert fuel to electricity.

India signed a deal with Armenia for export of missiles and weapon systems

  • In a significant move to boost India’s defence export, the country has signed an export order for missiles, rockets, and ammunition to Armenia
  • Armenia has border confict with Asian Azerbaijan.

Location of Armenia

  • Armenia, country of Transcaucasia, lying just south of the great mountain range of the Caucasus and fronting the northwestern extremity of Asia.
  • To the north and east Armenia is bounded by Georgia and Azerbaijan, while its neighbours to the southeast and west are, respectively, Iran and Turkey.

India Legends win Road Safety World Series 2022 Final against Sri Lanka Legends

  • Naman Ojha’s 108 not out and an exemplary performance by the bowlers helped India Legends defeat Sri Lanka Legends by 33 runs to clinch the Road Safety World Series title
  • Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and opted to bat first in the final match of the Road Safety World Series against Sri Lanka Legends in Raipur.
