India’s first canine centre inaugurated at Amritsar

Context: Recently, the customs department started its first centre ‘Customs K-9 Centre’ at the Attari in Amritsar.

  • The Centre has been developed at a cost of Rs 1 crore.
  • For its further development, Rs 6 crore has been approved.
  • The customs department would train at least 286 canines to be deployed at 200 places across the country.
